Locations for Photos
Many congratulations on your engagement and forth-coming wedding.
You may be considering having your wedding at Swancar, near Trowell on the outskirts of Ilkeston and Nottingham. If that is the case, then you may like to read our honest opinion of Swancar as a wedding venue as outlined below:-
As a local wedding photographer, who has photographed many times at Swancar, I can honestly say every wedding here has been a beautiful day.
As a photographer, I often see how the day is progressing from a unique perspective – I tend to see what goes on behind the scenes, away from the guests and the happy couple, I observe - that’s what I’m paid to do!
So what are the things I like about weddings at Swancar? well there are quite a few really, but here are just a couple of things:
Firstly, the welcome is always a warm one; Tracey, Steve and their team really understand how important the day is for the bride and groom; and have always found them to be attentive and responsive to any requests.
In addition they also understand that the couple will be wanting beautiful photographs as a record of their day and have always afforded me whatever assistance required to ensure that happens.
The bridal suite is perfect for getting some lovely “prep” photos before the ceremony; very well equipped with plenty of space.
There are two ceremony rooms, one upstairs:-
And one downstairs:-
Both will accommodate approx. 100 people if required and are both beautifully dressed for the wedding ceremony.
Swancar has many and varied photographic opportunities, from the wonderful Courtyard area:-
To the beautiful garden area, complete with Victorian style gazebo:-
The wedding breakfast normally takes place in the stunning Oak Hall, with it's airy feel and oaked beams, your guests will no doubt be impressed with not just the ambience:-
But also the delicious food, I have heard many guests comment on the quality of the food here.
The room is laid out perfectly to allow me to capture some wonderful natural shots of the speeches and guests as the enjoy their day.
The evening celebrations normally continue in both the Oak Hall and the Lower Barn area. The latter ideal for guests who maybe want to have a few minutes "time-out" from the more lively Oak Hall celebrations with it's DJ and / or live music.
The First Dance will typically take place in the Oak Hall and lends itself to some wonderful First Dance photos, with the brick walls, oak beams and wonderful colours.
We hope you have found this little insight to be of use, but obviously you need to make your decision based on your own individual requirements.
Above are just a few photos from previous Swancar weddings that I have had the pleasure to attend, but would love to show you more:
